Underground Cable wanted

GLS have just successfully completed a contract for the MOD at Eastriggs, Dumfriesshire raising significant funds for the organisation. Between now and next year when contracts with the MOD start again we are  looking to carry out work in the private sector.

If you are a Farmer, Land owner or House Builder or you simply own land that is ex MOD, there could be considerable valuable underground assets that have lain undetected for years which, if not removed can sometimes lead to the cause of a pathway of contamination.

GLS would be delighted to carry out a no-cost survey and on the discovery of any assets may be in a position to offer a credit.

If you would like to talk to us or are unsure of what you may have, do call one of our team on 01620 880207 or email: info@gilmertonlandsrvices.co.uk We would be delighted to hear from you.

GLS get that sinking feeling!

rsz_1img_0291 rsz_img_0293

GLS got that sinking feeling as one our of 25-ton Liebherr 906 excavator got bogged down at Eastriggs Cumbria!

A further 906 excavator was needed in a six-hour rescue operation after one of our diggers was submerged in a 50sq metre peat bog.  A desperate attempt by the driver to free the excavator was made but he was forced to abandon it. Luckily we managed to retrieve it the next day by laying a road and covering the surrounding areas in 25 tonnes of steel matting previously reclaimed from the site to create a road strong enough to hold the weight of the digger. Thanks to the expert work of Stuart from Rutherfords of Coldstream the next day  we were able to retrieve it, very dirty but unscathed!
